Start with identity, status, site, and time
A dive number must be unique inside this logbook. A saved site copies its name, country, and coordinates into the dive so later site edits do not rewrite the historical record.
When runtime is empty, entry and exit clocks may prefill it; an exit time equal to or earlier than entry is treated as the next local day. A manually entered runtime always wins.
- Enter an optional dive number and title, then confirm the local dive date.
- Keep Status as Draft while information is incomplete, or choose Complete when the record is ready.
- Search for a saved site, quickly add one, or type a custom site name for this dive only.
- Enter local entry and exit times. Select or verify the stored site time zone when UTC conversion is needed.
- In Advanced mode, add purpose, dive mode, operator, boat, and trip information when relevant.
Record depth, duration, conditions, and flags
Enter maximum and average depth, bottom time or runtime, surface interval, and recorded safety-stop values. Then add temperatures, visibility, water-body type, salinity, current, waves, surge, weather, day or night, entry and exit methods, ballast, and suit details as available.
Use the recorded environment and dive flags only to describe what happened. Labels such as decompression, technical, wreck, cave, ice, altitude, and overhead are factual entry attributes and do not produce planning or qualification decisions.
- Average depth cannot exceed maximum depth on a Complete dive.
- Depths, durations, intervals, and pressures cannot be negative; temperature fields allow realistic below-zero values.
- A Complete dive needs a date, a saved or named site, maximum depth, and either bottom time or runtime.
- Standard and Advanced change only what is shown. Switching modes never erases values already entered.
Understand display units and saved values
Enter values in the units shown beside each field. Metric displays metres, Celsius, bar, litres, and kilograms; Imperial or Mixed converts the relevant display fields.
The application stores canonical metric values and converts at the form, list, chart, filter, and export boundaries. Changing the display-unit preference does not change the underlying dive record.
Finish notes and save
Add a summary, highlights, equipment issues, incident details, lessons learned, and private notes as appropriate. Incident and medical checkboxes record that information was reported; they do not provide medical assessment.
Private notes are owner-only and are excluded from guest-signature snapshots. Review the full form, select the intended status, and save. Correct any highlighted fields before trying again.
If something goes wrong
- If the dive number is rejected, another entry in the current logbook already uses it.
- If a Complete dive will not save, confirm the required date, site, maximum depth, and bottom time or runtime.
- If UTC values are unavailable, the selected site may not have a stored IANA time zone; the system does not guess one during save.
- If editing a signed dive shows a warning, saving a material change will invalidate the active signature while retaining its history.
